Traci's Purl Soho dresses

Traci's dresses

Traci Snider's dresses are the third set I have received from the Purl Soho Foster Doll dress challenge. The other two sets of dresses have been given with dolls two girls in Family Promise and are already well loved! Thank you Alison and Dede!

Stellar. Total perfection. And very inspiring.

Traci's mother taught her to sew when she was a teen and wow, she did an amazing job, because these doll dresses are impeccable.

"My Mom taught me how to sew when I was a teenager, on her avocado green sewing machine she got when she was 18.  She was strict about details: you must iron, mark your pieces, pay attention to the grain of the fabric, and rip out a seam if it is wrong.  Frustrating to a teen, but as an adult I can't thank her enough for teaching me this!  I am lucky enough to have her green sewing machine now, and it still sews like a champ."

"After High School I really didn't sew much until I decided to make a set of dolls for my brother's twins about 5 years ago.  I have a full time job and 2 daughters, so I work on projects in the evenings; these dolls took far longer to make than anticipated but I was completely hooked.

"After that I tried making clothing for myself, my girls (only nightgowns made the cut), and now I'm digging sewing for Blythe dolls.  Dolls don't complain about fabric and fit!  I am also lucky enough to assist an amazing costumer at a local theater when the need arises.

"This project was both a delight and a challenge.  The fabric was beautiful and rich; I tried to keep the clothes from looking too mature by adding fun accents.  The trim proved to be the biggest challenge; the colors and material were not what I would typically use for doll clothing (albeit all very very nice).  I decided to relax and just use what I felt worked and would make a young lady happy to put on her doll.

"I learned some new techniques, and am so very impressed with the patterns and instructions available for FREE from Lisa!  I created my own templates for the necktie and pocket to add a unique touch."

Thank you Traci, these dresses will make a little girl very happy and they are very inspiring for the rest of us.

I love the rick rack on the pocket.
